Darts! - A televised sport!!!
« on: January 07, 2010, 06:47:55 PM »
Okay - so who else thinks it's weird for the BBC to broadcast DARTS? :P

I think of this as a pub game, or something you play with friends at home. But a sport?
A televised sport??? ???
Come on, now....

Any darts supporters out there???

Oh, sorry the mere thought of darts made me fall asleep!    ;)

Also, those darts players, not attractive.  At all.

I thought that was funny as well! I would rather watch almost anything instead of darts. And it has been on for days!

I do like the way the announcer says the scores in that funny voice, though.

I don't think it's weird, but it *is* boring!

I sort of look at it like snooker - it's nice to watch anyone do anything REALLY well, so I'll watch someone like Phil Taylor for a while, but I agree it gets boring awfully fast!!

Only like them showing poker in the US, or pool.

I'm a dart supporter!! The tournament that is still going on and being televised now is in Frimley Green just a few miles from me and we are going tonight - like english.bloke said, its a fantastic night out!   I think its great that its televised and let's give the players some credit - not only do they have amazing hand/eye coordination, but quite good math skills too when you think about how quickly they have to calculate where to throw to win.  Three cheers for darts :)

All I have been hearing about the last 2 weeks is darts, I find it strange but my friends tell me it is suppose to be a lot of fun to watch in person (while drinking of course).

Yeah, it's not bad all told. It can get almost tense too! :P
"As I write, highly civilized human beings are flying overhead, trying to kill me.

They do not feel any enmity against me as an individual, nor I against them. They are ‘only doing their duty’, as the saying goes. Most of them, I have no doubt, are kind-hearted law-abiding men who would never dream of committing murder in private life."

I don't play darts but I'll always watch it on the telly.  It's been on tv as long as I can remember and is fantastic to watch imo, one day i'll make it to either the lakeside or the ally pally...the atmosphere looks (?) amazing!

Has to be Lakeside!  The Palace is full of the people who think they are too good for Lakeside, so you know that the atmos will be better at Lakeside. :)   Honestly, its a lot of fun - I highly recommend a trip to Frimley Green next January!

I love that you went! It's fascinated me since we moved to FG.  :)
