Biscuits
« on: January 15, 2010, 09:42:46 AM »
Does anyone know if there are any biscuits widely available in the shops that are like Oreos, but without the filling? In other words, like plain chocolate wafers? Basically, I want to make this:

But without having to make all the biscuits for it or pull apart loads of Oreos.  :)

I think you want chocolate digestives!

Shouldn't you be doing this? :P ;)

Yes, I suppose that would an option. I just wanted to take the lazy route to deliciousness.  ;)

I'd need a chocolate biscuit that hasn't actually been dipped in chocolate. So, more like an Oreo but without the filling, I guess.  :-\\\\

The only time I have seen what you want is in a big selection pack, not on their own.  So they do exist but probably not a whole packet on their own.

Yeah, I was thinking about that - but my solution would be to crush up regular digestives & maybe mix in some cocoa powder?  Following on from that, I thought (assuming you really do want to do it the lazy way) I'd just try crushing up (or whizzing in a food processor) the chocolate covered ones & see if that wouldn't work as a substitute (or Oreos for that matter).  It's an experiment!  :)

Ohhhh.... well, that's creative.  :)

I think I may actually suck it up and do the long version. We could eat some as regular biscuits, I could make some into a few cupcakes (since we never eat very many at once, anyway) and then I could freeze some of the biscuits to make some chocolate crumb crust for a cheesecake or something. Mmmm. That does sound like a good idea!  :)

Blasphemous as this sounds, what about just getting some Oreos and scraping out the middles?

Maybe it's too time consuming?  Knowing me, I'd do it and eat all the middles til I felt sick!  :P
