I've got a long weekend in London, with tickets to Cirque de Soilel, the London Symphony Orchestra (the whole reason its this particular weekend), then lunch at Gordon Ramsay's Claridges- along with the Tate Modern...  I've been to London several times and have yet to make it to the Tate and I love weird, silly modern art!

Ooh! The Tate is fun. You can get the self-guided head set for a few pounds for extra fun. I like randomly hearing the stories about just why the canvas is completely black (for ex!) and hanging in an art gallery. I've always wanted to eat at one of Gordon Ramsey's restaurants! Cool!! [Side note- I ate at Jamie Oliver's restaurant in Oxford last summer and it was delish!] Sounds like it will be a nice weekend for you!

It's my due date so if kiddo's not arrived by that point probably doing the usual and going to in-laws for Sunday tea if not getting a takeaway or going out for a meal.   ;)

Usually we don't do a whole heck of a lot for it except exchange cards anymore.  We put more emphasis on our wedding anniversary instead.

All the plans sound really awesome. DB is a scrooge about such things too, so he won't be expecting anything in the post for me. I'm all about surprises, so if he was expecting something, I'd probably get it for a different day.  ;D

He definitely didn't expect what I got him for Xmas ;)

I'm not a big fan of valentine's day either - to me its more of a "hallmark" holiday and either i'm getting older and noticing it more - or the pink hearts and candy are being waaaay mass produced over on my side of the world - they are overwhelming!!!

So with all that valentine's day bashing said and done - my plans are:
me be completely smitten and romantic and given this amazing opportunity of a 3 day weekend - i'm flying over to London to spend our very first valentine's day together ( Gottagettolondon - I'm following in your footsteps - i love it - how amazing that you get this great opportunity to spend the wknd in Madrid!) I realize quite how lucky i am with this chance to just go there for 4 lil days I've thought about this and even if the extra day fell on groundhod day or something else i would have still went and just celebrated "us"  [smiley=heart.gif]

YAY! That will be fun! I've decided the jet lag at work the week I get back will be very worth it!

It's been since Nov 7th for me! I'm very ready for the next 13 days to fly by! Then, let's hope that time slows down to a crawl for the weekend. :) Do you use skype or video messenger? I find that helps SO much! We talk on there nearly every day. Even if it's just while I'm making dinner (with the laptop on the counter!) and he's working on one of his websites.... it's comforting to know he's "there."

Awww november - wow - you're my hero gottagettolondon!

And i think thats so sweet - about "cooking dinners together" I never used skype before i met my bf - its the best invention ever since presliced bread haha  :P

Up until october we used to talk for hours and hours every single day - but then i started on this new job - its about 1 hr drive away from home and its longer hours so by the time i get out and get home its too late (this has been so hard on us - we got used to having "our" time every day) Most often if im lucky i get home by 7 and my bf stays up so we can just sit and stare and have those goofy smiles at each other thru skype  [smiley=smitten.gif]

...I definately think that makes it easier. On the weekends we set time apart for a chat or a movie - but again with him being 5 hrs ahead of me its really hard to organize time. Sorry i just completely stolen the thread and vented on and on :( i just love writing here and everyone as been so amazing and wonderful with their advice, stories and kind words. I really appreciate it - if it wasn't for this forum i'd definately be a mess!

It's okay for stealing the thread, haha! I love to hear how people cope with their relationships and knowing that we are all going through the same thing makes it easier.
Another one of my favorite topics is "How did it all begin." That's nice to hear everyone's stories.

I may have to jump on the Skype bandwagon because our msn video chats aren't working.

;D Thanks aricarai!!! It helps me too when reading other people's stories - where can i find the "how did it all begin" thread? i'd love to read it and add my story to it as well - sometimes when im reading these stories i feel like its a really really good book and i just cant stop lol....

P.s. i never tried msn video chats - but i can tell you enough good things about skype - its amazing - my bf and i even got their international calling plan so its extremely cheap when we call each other - let me know if you need help setting it up - i have great and easy instructions that my bf made for me (cause im quite computer illiterate haha)

It's in the Expat forum. There are lovely lovely stories on there! :)
I think all of us expats should have a reality tv show or all collaborate on a book. It would be much better than some of the crap that's on tv these days, IMHO.

Yes, I would love directions on how to set up Skype international calling. I have an account, I just don't know how to work it that well. I'm going to introduce DB to it tomorrow. Hehe!

We don't do much for V day nowadays since our anniversary is the 24th.  Just planning on exchanging cards and cooking something yummy.
