I put something on here several weeks ago about hotels NOT to stay in because they were awarded the title of the dirtiest hotels.

Be careful!

Unfortunately, the US Embassy is in Mayfair, one of the most expensive areas in London.  What exactly is your budget?

There should be many affordable options in Bayswater. Check tripadvisor.co.uk for that area. It's very close to the Embassy.  :)

Travelodge have some great deals on family rooms and there are 2 or 3 in central London. This one is probably the closest to the Embassy.

I'd also suggest having a look on lastminute.com to see if they have any bargains.

thank you for all the replies.  I was thinking of the Travelodge in Marylebone ... might have a look at it.  I hope it's not on the dirtiest hotels list!

There are 2 or 3 Premier Inn's in the London area. They are inexpensive and clean./

Just stayed at the Novotel, Paddington for £99 incl. breakfast (2 adults and 2 kids).  Very nice hotel for the money.  There is even a pool!

Try www.lastminute.com. I've found some great deals there.  :)

DH has taken to staying at the Penn Club in Bloomsbury. I think it's between 90 - 110 quid for a double room b & b. Very basic but sometimes that's all you need.

I've referred a number of visitors to the Captain Bligh House

http://www.captainblighhouse.co.uk/

It's a small B&B, you can get a little suite with self-catering (kitchen) and en suite bathroom for about 80 quid I think.

It's near Southwark/Lambeth North tube so a quick ride to Bond St (near the embassy).

It does book up fast though!
