I am debating about the recipe. In my area we use yeast, but oy I don't feel like messing with yeast tonight after work. Maybe if I get home early I will yeasty ones, but honestly I can't be bothered at this point so this one uses baking powder. I can't vouch for the recipe though. HA!! Don't blame me.
Also, I would never, ever, ever put sugar on them. Molasses seems suspect to me as well.
This would make A LOT I am going to cut the recipe in half at least, maybe by a third.
Also, they should be triangular, to remind us of the Holy Trinity while we are munching away, or square for the 4 Gospels. Never round, never with a hole.

2 ½ cups hot mashed potatoes
1 cup milk
3 beaten eggs
2 Tablespoons melted butter
2 cups sugar
2 Tablespoons baking powder
5 cups flour
Mix your wets together add the dry except flour. Mix flour in slowly. You might not need all the flour. Divide the dough in half. Roll ½ inch thick. Cut with a donut cutter or use a knife to cut into triangular shaped pieces. Deep fry in hot fat or oil until done. Serve with sugar or molasses.
