From Georgia to Wales
« on: February 25, 2010, 04:18:05 PM »
I've been in the US for just over 6 years and we're heading home, back to Wales, fingers crossed, this May.  Still have to get the visa for my OH so have been reading up all the posts here trying to gain all the info.

We'll be living with family in Carmarthen so if anyone is there already - maybe we can meet up when we're finally there!!  I have a 13 year old daughter (British) who is also very excited about moving back home.  We wont have a car initially but relying on trains - I can't wait to go shopping again in Cardiff!

Anyway just a quick intro.

You missed me by a year or so, Karen. I used to live about 45 mins west of Carmarthen, but am now in Cornwall. Best of luck with your move!

Welcome to UKY!!  I can't think of anyone offhand in Carmarthen, although I love driving out there for day trips when I want to get away.  There are several of us either in South Wales or in the process of coming here.  We will have to look at a meet up in Cardiff once everyone makes it here.  Croeso i Cymru!  Let us know when you make it and when you do that Cardiff shopping trip, we'll have to see if we can collect a handful of us. :)

I know South Wales quite well - I was born there and a meet up in Cardiff would be great - trains run into Cardiff regularly from different parts of South Wales - I may even end up working in Cardiff ... quite a trek from Carmarthen but I'm prepared to do it if I have to.  I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!!

Without looking up your past posts - arent you going to Hengoed??  I used to live in Ystrad Mynach and later on Maesycwmmer -  Ive got relatives living in Nelson so will be up your way at some stage - I would say pretty quickly after our arrival - my favourite Aunt is in Nelson and that's going to be one of my first stops.   I think you'r going to love Wales - best of luck!!

Hi Chary - I was born in the valleys but spent most of my adult life living in England - although I moved back to South Wales a few years prior to moving to the US.
