Reporting UK stakeholder pensions to US govt
« on: April 26, 2010, 12:45:21 PM »
In 2010 I am now setting up a UK stakeholder pension with Nationwide.

My employer has written me a check for £3,000 (7% of my salary backdated to when I began work in 2008) to put into a UK stakeholder pension.  I don't believe 1099-R is applicable as that seems to be for distributions from a pension.

How are UK stakeholder pensions reported to the US government?

Many thanks,
Sidney

This sounds like a foreign grantor trust requiring annual reporting on Form 3520 and Form 3520-A plus reporting of the income on your annual income tax return.

You also have additional compensation to report in 2010.
