I moved with my lab/shepherd mix (who looks like a thin lab and acts entirely like a lab - very sweet and lazy).
I had to look for about 6 weeks before finding a place to live that would allow my dog as well as my cat. Quite a few places seemed OK with considering a "small" dog, but obviously 60lbs. doesn't count as small to anyone! I'm living in a flatshare, though, which complicates things a bit I think (a few places said that pets would be fine in theory, but the current residents didn't want them/were allergic/etc).
Luckily my flatmate and my landlord are happy with the animals, and I didn't have to pay any extra deposit money either, which was a bonus.
The only other tricky thing I've found since moving my boys over is the tube. You're not supposed to take dogs on the escalators unless you carry them, which is obviously not an option for me. I generally take the fire exit stairs when I take Ace around, but they're often hard to find, and way out of the way (so plan for extra travel time). The other day I had to take Ace on the escalator because they'd blocked off access to the fire exit...he was pretty much fine with it, though going down the escalator he was a bit nervous about when it ended and how to get off.
Other than that, it's been great. I've met a bunch of other dog owners, and everyone loves seeing a big, friendly dog around (Ace has far more friends than I do!).
