Moorfields Hospital
« on: May 06, 2010, 04:27:05 PM »
has anyone been to moorfields eye hospital in london?

i have an appointment with them next month to hopefully get a much needed procedure done.

So if you have been, how long did you have to wait for the procedure after your first initial appointment?

and how well do you rate this hospital?

I went there in early April for a checkup. They've since referred me to see a cataract specialist, but I'm still waiting on information for that appointment (and will get the procedure done after that, I'm assuming).

The hospital seemed good, and everyone I talked to was friendly and seemed to know what they were doing.

I have been treated there and it was an absolute joy (apart from messin' around with my eyes, which makes me feel woozy) - you will be in good hands!  It is a very calm hospital.

My neighbour is an eye surgeon and is currently working at Moorfields (I think he moves to Chelsea sometime this summer). It's a very well respected specialist eye hospital, and it's really well signposted from Old Street tube (for obvious reasons). You should be fine!
Summer 97 - first visited friends in London
99-00 - studied at Uni of Sussex on exchange
Feb 02 - moved to London on BUNAC
Sep 02 - WP granted (IT skills shortage list)
Sep 04 - WP renewed
Sep 06 - WP renewed again (screwed by 4-5 year ILR change)
Sep 07 - ILR!
March 09 - Citizenship!
July 09 - bone marrow transplant :(
18 Sep 10 - wedding!
Mar 12 - half marathon in Paris! 1:47:12!
Oct 12 - Amsterdam FULL marathon! 3:48:23!

It is the oldest and largest eye hospital in the world. Together with the University College London (UCL) Institute of Ophthalmology, which is adjacent to the Hospital, it forms the world's largest site for eye care and research. Eye hospitals don't get any better than this.

There aren't so much signs (well, one) as a dark green line going out of the tube station. Follow that and it goes to Moorfields. :) (Unless, like me, you come in from another direction and start following the line going away from the hospital.)
