Central London Food - Pub, not too expensive restaurant
« on: May 19, 2010, 11:46:22 AM »
Calling all London residents, or lovers of London who spend lots of time there.  I am meeting some people from Austria for a day in London and while I assume we'll do a tourist thing, I'd like some not overly expensive eating options.  My biggest nightmare is treking around London starving with people I do not know very well.  Pubs and not too expensive restaurants are my preference, because I know I do not want to spend a load of money and I'm not too sure about their budget.   [smiley=help.gif]

We went here one day while walking around and they had good food and good prices. It also has the best view of Parliament and the Eye. Its a boat that is always docked on the Thames but it is a pub. Exit at the Embankment tube stop and walk towards Parliament for about 1 minute and it is there.

I really like - http://www.pierrevictoire.com/
It's pretty cheap because of the set menus (the a la carte can sometimes be pricey), but the food is always really fresh and well cooked (and delicious!)
They also do 2 for 1 on main courses on Tuesdays if you're out and about on a Tuesday :)

They have a sister restaurant prix fixe which is also good here's the "cheap eats" review

There's a Wahaca in central London which is great for a cheap lunch, as it's tapas style you can eat according to your price range

I enjoy Wahaca.

Pubs I find are hit and miss, it depends on where you want to go.  For chain restaurants, I also like Wagamama, and the ever reliable Pizza Express, and always find them pretty reliable.

Also!  Med Kitchen, there are a few locations:

I liked this pub:  :)

The Anchor Pub
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...
