I like it very much, but yes, of course I miss my family and friends. No family has visited yet, but I have had two visits from friends which have been wonderful. I dont think I can say if I prefer the US or the UK as they are so different and both have much different things to offer. I dont think it does any ex-pat any good to compare them side-by-side really.
Now that I live here (I'm in Surrey), I dont really call it "sight-seeing", but I have been around to many places and explored quite a bit, mostly in the South of England.
You didn't ask, but my only advice to the US side of your relationship is to not take other people's experiences as anything more than THEIR experiences. I think people sometimes assume things will happen, or they will feel a certain way or experience a certain thing because they have heard others in the same situation experience, feel or react a certain way and in my opinion, you do yourself a disservice if you go into moving to another country with expectations based too much how it was for others.
Both of you should be as open as possible to your OWN experiences and realize it may likely not be exactly as you think it will be or should be or was for others.
Good luck to both of you on your journey!
