Coupon system?
« on: June 02, 2010, 05:44:39 AM »
So, I'm currently living near Pittsburgh but will be moving to the UK in August. I just recently got into the coupon world and LOVE IT. I was wondering if the UK had any type of system like this? Can anyone send me some info?

 Thanks!!

There are things like store cards where you get rewards for hitting certain points from purchases, and some random vouchers available but if you're used to hard-core CVS'ing or getting groceries for pennies on the dollar I think you'll be disappointed.

It may have changed but there wasn't much 'couponing' in the UK when I moved away 2 yrs ago.

I have yet to see the sort of coupon culture that's in the states. We receive a few from Tesco in the post from time to time as a result of our club card points, but that's about it.
I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, 'If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.' Kurt Vonnegut

No, there is nothing here on the scale of US coupons.  Individual stores have loyalty shemes whereby you collect points for most purchases and then you are either issued vouchers (sort of like coupons) that you can use in store or with partners of the store or you just redeem the points.  Occasionally, the shop might give double or triple points or they might have a weekend where you get an extra 10% off when you present your loyalty card.

On very rare occasions I have seen coupons attached to products for instant redeeming.
