Can of Vegetable Salad???

My BF asked me to pick this up on the way home.  He's at work so I can't ask him what he means.  What on earth is he talking about?    It's been a while since I've been stumped on something here!

That can't exist surely? And if it did, would you want to eat it?
I've never heard of it, could there be a miscommunication? Vegetable salsa?

I recall that from being a child but didn't know they still sold it.  It's an odd combination of various veg with a salad cream type dressing - I didn't like it then and wouldn't like to try it now!!

I've never heard of it either and I'm British!! I thought perhaps he meant fruit salad, and just mis-spoke.

It doesn't look very appetising! Do you eat it hot or cold? Couldn't you just cook some fresh vegetables and plop some mayonnaise or salad cream on them? That's sort of what it sounds like.

(I just Googled it to find out more and someone said you can get it in Vermont!!)

Yeah, I think it'll just be him eating that tonight. 

It's potato salad in a can.  They do something similar in Spain and France.   Though I'm not sure I'd ever eat it unless stuck in the wilderness with no food for a  few days. 

Well, I couldn't find it anywhere yesterday and we checked later and Tesco didn't have it online.  Poor BF was disappointed, but I was secretly relieved because it meant I wouldn't have to try it. 

This just sounds awful.  I'm glad you couldn't find it, Nose.   

My Googling revealed a lot of people searching desperately for their vegetable salad, so perhaps that means it's being phased out? One can hope!

OH my!  At first I thought that might be a Britishism for canned mix vegatable but that doesn't look yummy at all.   

Yeah, it doesn't look like they make it anymore (fortunately for me).  BF  admitted that people always slag it off, but he says it's just because they don't know a good thing when they taste it.    However, if it were that good you'd probably be able to find it in abundance, wouldn't you?
