across, I love your dress but especially your veil - how is it attached? It looks like it's just floating across your eyes?  Have you got any more photos of it?

Thanks! I made the veil myself. Just purchased some netting, cut it to size, and secured it under my hair with some bobby pins. I bought an antique comb that slipped in over the pins so you couldn't see them.

OOOO...very nice ladies!!  I <3 all these wedding threads.  I got married in a black summer dress...no pics though (that's what happens when you have a secret courthouse wedding and forget to bring the camera so someone there can take a pic for you). 

We're planning a 2012 wedding blessing cermony thingy and I've been trying to start getting ideas together so we can start (slowly) getting things now to ease the financial burden.  Of course the dress will probably be the last thing I buy...but I'm loving gawking at all the lovely dresses here in the meantime!

I can definitely sympathise with that! Its that same reason why my fiance and I haven't set a date yet. We wanna make sure we have enough money to get everything before we set a date. I'm buying my dress first, just because I want to have it first!

Its a sincerity gown and it was white and I had a chapel length veil with crystals which i was totally in love with!

So I went to a bridal show yesterday and I found this dress shop there that said they had my dress and could get it for me for cheaper than David's Bridal. So I went over to their shop and they found the dress. Its very similar, and would need just a couple alterations to the back to make it exactly what I want. The dress comes from a designer called DaVinci (yes like the famous artist) and I'm definitely all for saving money! xD They also said quality is ten times better than David's Bridal.

I'm afraid to go shopping for a dress!

I'm just not feeling up to dealing with potentially pushy and/or judgmental salespeople.  I don't want to deal with shops not having any samples that are close to my size.  I just...ugh...don't want to deal with any of it.

Except I do want a dress.

So, eventually, I'm going to have to suck it up.  I just wish there were more/better options for buying online.  What I've seen mostly (other than the David's Bridal online-only) are rather sketchy Chinese sites.  I'm not willing to risk that.

I can understand how you feel woadgrrl. Buying a dress can be a scary thing. All I can recommend is have a few close friends or family with you and make sure you do some research beforehand so you know what style you like and what you don't. And make sure you don't back down. If any sales person becomes especially pushy, take your business elsewhere. Pushy salespeople aren't interested in making you happy as a bride, and so aren't worth your time and money. Also it doesn't hurt to read reviews online of companies. Some places like google or yahoo will have some reviews on their websites of different companies. Just type in the address and see what comes up. Going to bridal shows won't hurt either. And talk to friends in your area who have gone dress shopping before and have them recommend a dress shop. Or if you know how to sew or know someone who can sew, you can always just make your dress. There are patterns everywhere. It may take a bit of time to have it completed, but you avoid pushy salespeople that way. Hope I helped.

My wedding has been called off. Looks like I won't be needing my dress now.
