Ok I hate to sound like a broken record but before any of you book any flights MAKE SURE YOU CHECK FOR ISSUANCE ERRORS!!!

See: http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=57518.0

And for the love of all that is good, DO NOT BOOK A FLIGHT THAT GOES THROUGH DUBLIN BEFORE LANDING IN THE UK!

I'd like to add my congratulations to all those who have been waiting for weeks and finally got their answers over the last few days :). I'm MLS3789's husband, so I've been following this post closely too and it's been great to see so much joy in here today :).

Thanks to all who helped out answering my questions when the two of us were researching the visa application and thanks to all who have been offering support to others during the long wait!

It's such an amazing feeling to know the wait is over and that life can continue again. I hope all those who are still waiting hear good news very soon :)

DO NOT BOOK A FLIGHT THAT GOES THROUGH DUBLIN BEFORE LANDING IN THE UK!

Why is this?

Why is this?

Because if you land in the Republic Of Ireland before you arrive in the UK, you WILL NOT go through UK Immgiration, your visa will not be validated (stamped in), and you will cause yourself major issues when you try to prove when you established residence in the UK for your next step visa and problems if you chose to naturalise at a later date. Plus it may appear that you're actively trying to avoid UK immigration aka ENTER ILLEGALLY.

You might save a few bucks but the headaches you'll create will far outweigh the savings.

it's a shame that Dublin's out as a stopover (although obviously I understand why). Aer Lingus has THE most comfortable economy class I've ever been in.

This scares me, because I didn't know this when I sent my application in, and I included information for the Aer Lingus flight I had been planning to take for the itinerary requirement (I didn't actually book it yet, thank God). I'm hoping that doesn't screw up my chance at getting my visa, because I'm more than willing to fly another airline that goes straight in to Manchester, rather than having a layover in Dublin. I actually prefer Delta, which is what I flew last time, and it went straight to MAN.

Bah! HUMBUG!

Exactly.... the people that I've told about this, I've also reminded that we're only 1/3 of the way there, that I still have to make sure that there are no errors, and then I have to see if I can get my rescheduled flight for before 10/12. But the biggest hurdle seems to be cleared!

And, thanks for the congrats Weby and everybody :)

I would think that you'd be all right even if it says Dublin on your app, as long as you don't actually go through there.

Congratulations to everyone! I really really hope you hear something soon Nickiboo. There is nothing like getting that email. I had a wide smile on and I felt like crying at the same time, I was so happy and relieved. I got the email today, Dukespecial is my fiance!

Here is our timeline...

NY consulate
Applied: August 2nd non priority
Biometrics: August 5th
Arrived at consulate: August 12th
Visa issued: October 4th

38 business days in all.

Just wondering, what kind of errors are we looking for? Just grammatical errors?

agreed! i was planning on taking an aer lingus flight because cost wise it is the best. i mainly fly continental though (mostly because i'm very lucky and my sister was an airline attendant and i could fly roundtrip for cheap). however, Weby's very adamant no-ireland policy has scared me into giving aer lingus the stank eye and considering other options.
