American style corned-beef?
« on: July 31, 2010, 01:56:09 PM »
Is it possible to get American style corned beef here, spiced the way it would be in an American Jewish deli?

What is called corned beef here is nothing like the corned beef that I was used to in the US.

Would the American deli style corned beef, or something similar, be called something else here?

It's called Salt Beef here, you can get it in small amounts thinly sliced at some supermarkets, or you can get it in Jewish Delis. I see it a lot around Old Spittalfields/aldgate in London which is a Jewish area.

Ocado has some varieties of salt beef -

You can get presliced Pastrami at most supermarkets, its not Kosher, but its still okay for the occasional Reuben!
