ECOs across the network worked this weekend (and last, and Labor Day weekend and the one before that) to try and get through the backlog. If you're waiting for a response keep an eye on your emails tomorrow, while they may have been issued today and yesterday, you won't get the email until printed on Monday.

For those waiting on an application in Chicago, if you got your "application received" email on Aug 30th-Sep 1st there's a good chance you'll see movement tomorrow. From Sep 2nd, numbers received really dropped off and have slowed to a trickle now, so the wait time should considerably decrease this week.

Hi all,

I thought I could get some advice about my Tier-4 Student Visa application. Here are the stats:

Biometrics appointment:   Tuesday, 24 August 2010
Sent Documents UPS:       Tuesday, 24 August 2010
UPS Tracker Arrived:        Wednesday, 25 August 2010
E-Mail confirmation:         Thursday, 26 August 2010
Email issuing Student Visa:  .........Nothing yet..

So, I'm sitting at 17 business days (with Labor Day not included) and haven't heard a word from the UK LA Consulate.

Any advice on what I should do? Every website states that 99% of visas have been processed in 15 business days. Am I really in that 1% or is something up?? I've already lost my first airplane ticket and won't buy another until I get some word on my visa.

Thanks for your help!!
Katie

Hi Katie.

There's not much you can do but just sit tight & wait. Take what Tannersarms said (they are in the know) to heart, you should be hearing shortly.

Hi Katie,

Our timelines at the LA consulate are exactly the same down to the day!  Hopefully we'll both be hearing something soon.  Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, WebyJ! I hope that I hear this week :)

Glad to hear that we are in the same boat, lousyreeds1! Waiting is a little more bearable when you know you aren't the only one in the situation. Good luck to you, as well!

Just got my approval email today!  This was my timeline:

Application submitted August 24th.
Processing email received August 26th.
Silence for 17 working days...
Approval email received September 20th.

Very happy I'll be able to start school on time, and I'm happy to have learned some good lessons about visa application processes for the future.  Good luck to those still waiting!

Congrats to all who have their emails/ Visas.

Tannersarms: How reliable is your information?

Day 14 ( business only not including weekends) and no word from Chicago. I'm considering contacting them but other than a polite "what gives"/ "get on with it" ( although I'm not sure Python is appropriate, who am I kidding Python is always appropriate) I'm not sure what to ask or how productive that will be.

I got the email today! Hoping that my passport shows up within the next couple days!

Also- this was a full 18 business days from email to email. Don't fret if yours is taking the same amount of time.

Good luck to everyone else and thanks for the help!

Their information is 100% reliable and credible.

It will do you no good to email the Consulate especially if you did not purchase priority processing. Best to just sit back and relax.

The passports usually arrive next day air from UPS, so look for it today or tomorrow.

Congratulations to all recent approvals!!!

Just got an email saying that my visa has been approved from the Chicago Consulate (application material was received on August 31). However, I don't know how they've shipped it to an incorrect address. I really don't understand how they could mess up the delivery address. Talked to the people at UPS and they said that I could pick it up from the service center location. So that's what I'm gonna do tomorrow and I'm just hoping they didn't mess up the details on my visa.
