Going to be moving to the UK
« on: August 09, 2010, 12:05:54 AM »
Hi my name is Tirzah, but everybody has always called me Tiri. I am going to be gettin married to my fiance, William, in early December then moving with him back to his home country - the UK- as soon as possible after that.. I am going to be new to England but not new to Europe. I was born in Czechoslovakia when it was still Czechoslovakia and not the Czech Republic. I lived in Prague from ages 6 to 15 and then moved to Yonkers, New York where I reside (as do my parents and 5 siblings along with their own families). I am extremely sad about leaving my family because we're very close and I've never lived farthern than 10 minutes away from all of them.
However I am very excited to be with Will. I'm also excited that my two children (from a previous marriage) will get to experience another country. My son, Simon, is 11 and my daughter, Elle, is 6 so they're young enough that they can settle in and feel English but old enough that they'll remember living here in New York.
Anyway, I plan to be on these forums because I want to find out all I can about the UK before I jet off lol.

Welcome Tiri!  ;D

I am sure it is sad to leave your family as it is for most of us, but you will still have them in your life as always except for the 10 minutes away thing.

This is a great adventure for you and the children so just focus on the exitement of that and know that you always can visit or be visited by your family.

Good luck!
I'm an American chick no matter where I roam...

Welcome Tiri - the board is helpful for all the information and support.  Where are you moving to in the UK?

Well my fiance works in London so I assume we'll be living around there, hopefully in a nice quiet suburb for the kids  ;) I don't know the surrounding area but if anybody has suggestions for a nice place to live and raise children, that would be super helpful ;D

Just wanted to extend a welcome, Tiri.  I haven't gone through the process yet of moving over there, but I've lurked and read A LOT.  The people on this forum are amazing, knowledgable and genuinely helpful with questions you may have.

Good luck on your move and congrats on your upcoming wedding.
