I am London town, after searching out americans in London I found some that are friendly and great and others well not (that are miserable and hate everything about the UK gggeeeezzz)  ;D but hope to get a group of happy sort together sometime soon.

I found a great bunch while volunteering. I help fundraise with cat protection the odd Saturday but found the ladies really nice when we do meetup. If you have a little bit of extra time I highly recommend volunteering

This is a super way to meet people with like minded interests and build UK work related experience!  :)

Jenn,

Continue to be kind and continue to be polite!!! It is very difficult making friends in London and this is for reasons I think Londoners do not even understand.

Fund raising and activities are always a good way to meet if you knit or do other crafty type things that is good as well.

You will be just fine! Across the street from the Texas Embassy is a little pub called the Two Chairmen go there the staff is from around the world and the patrons are very nice.

Good luck.

I agree just be yourself. It is hard to make friends in a new place AND a new culture. I do not want to plug my meetup group but you are welcome to have a look at the link and join us sometime.
