I have a heck of a "wish" list going on here! Now I just need a bigger kitchen to keep them all for when I get them  ;D

I kind of don't get the bashing of celebrity chefs. Some of them (most of them, actually) have only become celebrities because of being very good at what they do. Rick Stein, Jamie Oliver, etc. They're chefs who've become celebrities through their work. They're not just random celebrities who've published cookbooks.

This appears to be the thread I just can't let fall off of the page ;)

Can anyone recommend a good curry/Indian food cookbook?

I would love to find a book or cook book that shows all the weights and measuremnts of cooking.

Actually I think I wouldnt mind a geek book so I can wrap my head aroudn the metric way.

Has anyone seen an actual cook book that does both and explains it?

This is my husband's job in our house!  ;)  (plus he gets to make endless jokes at me & my expense about my old timey ways - pints, quarts, bushels, pecks, hogsheads...)

But he was unduly impressed with my memorisation abilities when we were making Thanksgiving dinner, and the recipe called for 1 1/2 sticks of butter...and I quickly rattled off...4 sticks of butter is 454 grams, so 1 stick of butter is 113.5 grams - making 1 1/2 sticks approx 170 grams.  If you want two sticks of butter, use the 250 g block of butter but lop a little bit off the end!  ;D

I look things up http://www.traditionaloven.com/conversions_of_measures/butter_converter.html

This thread in Just Do It! has some other resources as well.

My favourite site for conversions is Gourmet Sleuth.
