DH and I have been finding this out as well.  We're looking at prices of around $750-$800 each for a flight this December from Boston to London (RT).  It's insane because a few years ago, it cost about that much to go from LA to Humberside (RT).

So does that mean if you book on the website in an alternate currency, even for the same route, it works out cheaper? If that's the case, book in Euros, or pounds!

I tried looking at that because I thought it may work to be cheaper, but it seems to work out about the same cost per ticket (if not more).  I keep trying, though.   :)  I'm not sure if it has something to do with the flight originating from the US or not (seems like that's the case looking at the article), but it's frustrating either way.

DH and I figured this out as soon as we decided to visit each other for the first time.  It was definitely cheaper for him to come see me.  Out of curiosity, we checked the exact same flight numbers for the exact same days and it was half the price for him to come to the US (and yes, we did take into account the exchange rates).  It would have cost us £450 (per person) to fly to the US this summer (around $700) but it cost my mom $1200 for the same route.  Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Yep. Same thing here. BF came here at the end of June for 2 weeks- 350£ for him. Checked the same exact dates in reverse, it was over $1200. Ridiculous. I just paid nearly $900 to go for a week over Thanksgiving. (Which would make sense if it were a country who celebrated T'giving. It didn't make any difference if I changed the dates away from T'giving.) Can we say "ouch!"

I'm flying London to Boston in 2 weeks.  The ticket was $550 (dollars!).  The reverse ticket for the same dates on the same airline was $770.   :-\\\\
