Booking Pets on British Airways - What a Pain
« on: October 14, 2010, 02:17:50 PM »
So here I am at 6:15am PDT stressed because BA are useless...

I have to call the Pets Passport Desk no more than two weeks in advance to book my dogs on the same flight we are already booked for. In order to make sure they get on the flight BA tells me to call at 9am EDT exactly two weeks before.

Firstly they didn't turn their phones on until 9:09am. When I got through at 9:10am they told me all lines are busy and they will call me back in two hours. Yeah, right. I've never had a company call me back when they said they would.

It will cost us $550 to change our passenger tickets so I hope we don't end up having to do that.

I guess I will keep calling at 10 minute intervals until I get somewhere.

How stupid that BA cannot link a passenger booking with a pets booking.  :-[

Sorry you're having so much trouble, Andy. :( Hope BA gets on the ball soon. FWIW, I think I arranged my boys' flight about 2 1/2 weeks in advance (they didn't give me any nonsense about 9:00am 14 days prior, thankfully), and it wasn't a problem to put them on a flight at the day/time I wanted.

Thanks. You have been very helpful and supportive. Getting my dogs over there is far more stressful than anything to do with visas.

I called back 10 minutes later and they said the lines were still busy, so they took my details and would pass them along and I would receive a confirmation email in two to three days(!). I'll call back in a bit to see if I can find out if I actually have a booking or not.

You might try digging around on their website. I seem to remember calling the Dulles faction of BA, who then transferred/referred me to the PETS people. That might help you connect with a person, and/or get different contact info to reach someone.

I called the Denver section and they gave me the main number that I've been calling. I called back and they have only one person working today booking pets for the whole of the US, so it is still impossible to get through. I have to wait until 4pm EDT or tomorrow or wait for the email in a couple of days. Those are my choices. Sigh.

Yuck. :( I do remember having problems reaching them when DC had tons of snow in Feb/Mar, but luckily I was only confirming options at the time, not booking.

Good luck getting through, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
