US mom living in Glasgow
« on: October 15, 2010, 02:06:00 PM »
Hello.....

I have been living in Glasgow for almost 3 years now and someone I know just pointed me to this site!  Besides facebook I am not one for forums. But anyone else living in Glasgow?  With a one year old it is hard to get out and meet people.  My husband is a Scot but I orginally came from Wisconsin.  Would be nice to know a few more people from back home.

Angela

An American friend of some local friends of ours has recently married a Scotsman (the cousin of our friend) and moved to Glasgow. We did mention this site to her but she doesn't use it.

Welcome!

I was never really a forum person either, but I confess that I got kind of sucked in. :)

I'm getting married in a few weeks, and (hopefully) will be moving to the Western Isles early in the new year.  It's not exactly close to Glasgow, but it is the closest major city, so I do hope to get there at least a few times a year.  So, if anyone wants to organize some sort of Glasgow meet-up, it might be a good excuse to visit the mainland.  Feel free to PM me if you're interested.

Hi Angela,

I may be getting relocated to Glasgow and was curious to know how family-friendly the city is?  My wife and I have a 9-year old and a 2.5-year old, so I am a little leery of downtown London.  How is Glasgow in terms of finding a nice place to live, decent school. etc...?

We are still in the USA, but would be coming over in Jan-Feb timeframe.  If we end up there, we'll definitely give you a ring!

Best regards,

Don
