Stomach Pains
« on: October 15, 2010, 04:39:06 PM »
An appointment at my GP is a 3 week waiting.  So wanted to post here to get others expierances with this, instead of waiting almost a month to speak to someone!

has anyone suffered constant stomach pains before? For over a month, I've had them really bad, Its worse in the mornings and for hours Im in really bad pain, then it eases up for a couple of hours, still painful but not as bad, then it comes back to the original pain for a few more hours ,then goes back to not as painful feeling. Its like this all day, I havent had no stomach pain in over a month. Its so bad that I'm not able to eat anything heavy, just soup and other light things like sandwiches. I also get sick and gag often when something turns my stomach whether it be a nasty smell or the sight of something disgusting. I'm constantly cold as well. I'm not looking for anyone to diagnose me,obviously! Just anyone who has gone through this or heard of anything like this, thats all.

oh and I'm defo not pregnant.

Anyone been through this type of thing before?

Can't you call your GP and say you need to see someone that day?  My GP's surgery always gives out appointments on the day that you call. You probably have to call first thing in the morning.

There are so many things it could be, it's best not to diagnose over the internet.

Or try phoning NHS direct or go to a walk-in clinic or, if it's really bad, A&E.

will have to do the walk-in clinic, if it doesnt get any better, i forgot about those!

unfortantley my GP isnt like that. They have "so-called" an emergancy appointment on Wednesdays, but only one slot available. So that is quickly snapped up by someone else.

thanks sweetpeach

I agree that it could be any one of a billion things. The walk-in clinic is probably your best bet. It definitely beats waiting three weeks!

Boy that sounds crap about your GP- Yeap, I'd say get thee to a doctor as soon as -and if you feel its urgent- the sooner the better

Agree with the others, these things can't be diagnosed over the internet!

Since it's been over a month, don't wait and see if it gets better. Go now (or as soon as you can tomorrow.)

thanks for the replies everyone,
Ive been trying to google whats wrong cause the thing that bothers me, is that I cant let my partner know about it. Ive been hiding my stomach pains and giving an excuse of "im just tired" when he asks why I look so miserable. I cant let him know because he just found out that his mother has kidney cancer and it spread into her stomach and it could be terminal, so the last thing i want to say is "hey I know your upset about your mum..but ive got somethign to tell you". it wouldnt be fair. So I gotta somehow make an excuse to go to the walk in clinic

I went through a few months of very bad stomach pain.  I went to the dr., they ran every test they could think of, and came up with nothing.  Eventually it just stopped.  To this day, I have no idea what was causing it, but thankfully it's never come back.

I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.  Good luck.

I had the same thing once, woadgrrl. I had so many scans but ... NOTHING. And then it went away.

It could be, (in my very limited amount of medical knowledge) some sort of irritable bowel issue- or possible epigastric pain due to a food allergy you might have just developed. But if it's constant pain, that's probably unlikely.. Unfortunately because there is so much going on in your abdomen,  it's hard to narrow it down.  I would keep pestering your GP- the squeaky wheel gets the grease.  It worked for tons of my patients!
We stole countries with the cunning use of flags. Just sail around the world and stick a flag in. "I claim India for Britain!" They're going "You can't claim us, we live here! Five hundred million of us!" "Do you have a flag …? "What? We don't need a flag, this is our home, you bastards" "No flag, No Country, You can't have one! Those are the rules... that I just made up!...and I'm backing it up with this gun, that was lent to me from the National Rifle Association."

From what is described it could possibly be a gall bladder inflamation/attack.

I had unexplained occaisional stomach issues and it ended up being my gall bladder, my husband also had some stomach problems recently and he was advised to go on a low fat diet, reduce stress & was given some medication that he took for 4 weeks. Since then he's been fine (and also lost 3 stone due to the healthy diet change), his stress level hasn't changed at work, but he's learning how to cope with it..but getting into the GP was crucial in his recovery.

I'm sure that your BF would want you to seek medical help especially since ignoring this can potentially lead to more serious issues if you don't and if there is something wrong with you it needs to be addressed quicky.

I recommend A&E ASAP.

Just because doctors don't find anything doesn't mean nothing is wrong.

My sister used to faint a lot and had loads of tests and nobody could ever find out why.  It turns out that she had a bowel obstruction - she would mostly faint after heavy meals - and it was blocking some of the blood flow to her brain.  Nobody figured out what it was until her bowel became completely obstructed (she started vomiting uncontrollably) and she had to have emergency surgery.

I hope you were able to seek medical treatment, Ink and that all is OK.

sorry just seen this. I did go to the doctor, but it was a waste of time. Their answer? "take some paracetemol"  ... Yeah whatever, almost 2 months of constant stomach pain will be cured by taking paracetemol????.

I might as well go private since I cant go to another GP in my area.

thanks for the well-wishes everyone
