Jury Service
« on: November 14, 2010, 04:02:02 PM »
Can anyone advise what the situation is regarding jury service. I moved to the UK earlier this year, and wonder whether you can register this with the US Government so that they do not call me for jury service. Is it a case of having myself removed from the electoral roll ? and if so, how do I do this ? Can anyone who has gone through this process offer advice  ?
Thanks

What I did the one time I got called for FL jury service (Mom & Dad forwarded the notice) was send back the form explaining I was resident in the UK.  This was a couple years ago and seemed to do the trick.  I'm still able to vote absentee from FL.

Thanks, but any mail sent to my former address in the USA will not reach me here. Anyone else gone through this ?

I would assume then it would be returned to sender and they'd know you didn't live there that way. You can file a request with the Postmaster in the town you used to live in to have your mail forwarded to your UK address. You can just print out the request online & mail it to the Postmaster. Pretty simple and loads have done it, myself included.

I've been called twice now from out of the country.  Both times I just told them that I was abroad.  It happened once while I was working in London on Bunac, and the other while I was on my RTW.
