It's nearly Thanksgiving!!!
« on: November 24, 2010, 05:50:16 PM »
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  For those of us who are celebrating, hope you have a great time & eat loads.  If you're celebrating tomorrow, eat some turkey & pumpkin pie for me.  (We're doing ours on Saturday.)

Big hugs to anyone who is feeling sad.  [smiley=hug.gif] :-*

It's not something that fazes me anymore, but I know homesickness sucks & especially more sometimes over truly American holidays like this one.  My 'old timey' American Thanksgivings haven't occurred since the early 1990s (with my grandma, my mom & extended family gathered around) - so those are completely of another place & time for me - that's just no longer there (a lot of them are gone from the world now).  So....I've just had to make my own new traditions.  :)

Happy, safe holiday wishes to everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This is only the 3rd Thanksgiving that I've spent away from my HUGE family in the US and the past two years we were lucky enough to travel to the US and spend it with them. This year because of visa/Naturalisation & More visa costs we're spending it in the UK just the 3 of us so I am a bit down about that but hopefully in the next few months we'll be back there for good!

Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone on Both Sides of the Pond  :)

I hope everyone has a fab Thanksgiving.  Even after 6 of them, I find it extremely tough, especially after talking about my family quite a bit today.  It's my favourite holiday because I think it's just such an inclusive holiday, anyone can participate and it's the only time I really miss the US any more.  And do I ever miss it this year.  Hopefully today was my major wobble for this year (always have one), and I am looking forward to my Thanksgiving with my 'English family' here in Yorkshire!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

A Very Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!!!

I do miss my traditional bits of the holiday - Macy's parade, NFL, reading the Black Friday ads (even though I wasn't a Black Friday shopper), feasting with my family and friends, going for a walk up the nature trail after, bringing up the Christmas boxes with my daughter after everyone's gone home because the tree goes up the day after.  (We liked to enjoy it for an extra long time. ;D)

I'm sure I'll have a blue moment or two tomorrow but I'll be at work in a roomful of preschoolers so it certainly won't be boring.
I hope you all have a day filled with simple pleasures and happy memories.   :)

Happy Thanksgiving!!!  ;D

Even though we're not celebrating until Saturday, and I have to leave for work in a half hour, I still woke up with that "It's Thanksgiving!" feeling. It's the only holiday that still makes me feel like that.

I hope everyone has a fabulous day, no matter which day you're celebrating!  :-*

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!!!!  [smiley=crown.gif] [smiley=balloon.gif] [ [smiley=joker.gif] [smiley=kid.gif] [smiley=love.gif] [smiley=party3.gif]  [smiley=balloon.gif]

I feel kind of blue- because I already had my big party- which was so fantastic and I loved it- and trust me, I want nothing to do with Thanksgiving food today after eating leftovers all week, but my sister posted on facebook that she "couldn't wait for Mommy food" and it made me feel all sad.
 :\\\'(

I was actually my plan at the beginning of 2010 to go home for T-Day this year, but my choral concert got pushed back 1 week from the 20th until the 27th so I couldn't do it (wouldn't get back here in time- thanks to terrible flight connections, etc it takes 2 days of travel to get here from the US!)

Now that said- when I get home from band practice tonight- skype is coming on - and I will share a piece of pie with them.  And I'm uber lucky, because I am going home for Hogmanny. So mommy food is soon!

Thank goodness for skype!  I will be getting up in the wee hours to connect with my stateside family.  But, my mom actually came here to celebrate Thanksgiving with us today (and make her awesome stuffing and gravy), so I feel so lucky and grateful.

I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving, whatever it looks like, and whenever you choose to celebrate.  What could be bad about good food and gratefulness?

Happy Thanksgiving ya'll! This is my first Thanksgiving here and not sure how it will be BUT I am a trooper and moving forward.  Plans changed and we went with the flow with a smile and now cooking a 6.6 kg turkey crown and having 10-12 people in our tiny house.  I will miss my Texas friends as we always had so much fun on Thanksgiving.
The UT game isn't on till 7pm Texas time and I will miss not watching it but I will DVR it ;-)

I wish you all a wonderful day, whatever day you choose to celebrate or not

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving celebration - however & whenever you did it!  :)

I think I'm still in food coma here.  :P

I said to DH, we should do Thanksgiving more often, because my kitchen floor has now been mopped twice in two days!  That's more frequently than it gets mopped in...oh...hmmmm, maybe we won't talk about that.  :-[

HME was disappointed in me that I let the housework avoidance side down this weekend.  Well you only had to peek into our bedrooms and the loft (three rooms where all clutter was stashed in a big hurry) to put rest to any of those concerns.  Lol!
