Potatoes and swiss chard from the allotment turned into

Swiss Chard, Chickpea, and Potato Curry, plus poppadoms

That sounds kinds like my supper last night and tonight! Spinach for chard, though.  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Philly Cheesesteak soup. I'm not feeling my best, so I needed something that used what I had and that I could throw into the slow cooker and be done with it. The nice bit is that the entire house has smelled wonderful since about 2 today and it's actually giving me a bit of an appetite! Really cannot wait on my husband to get home so we can eat.

Philly Cheesesteak soup.

This sounds good- Do you have a recipe?

I'm having leftover curry.  Love leftovers.  Come home, heat up. Eat! Homemade meal but quick!  And curry stews nicely overnight  :)

Sure do:

I used homemade vegetable broth (save those peelings and fresh scraps!), half the amount of beef and I added mushrooms. The lady who runs that website is gluten free, but if you're not GF, feel free to ignore any special GF instructions. If you have a slow cooker, her website is very valuable!

Lucky doesn't have much to do with it!  :P

It's been on our menu for weeks. :)

I don't think my plan of £50 per month will work this month. We are moving in week or so and I didn't realize exactly how much food we go through. The good thing is that we barely waste anything. We just need to start eating less honestly.

Dinner tonight will consist of beef curry with onions, peppers and mushrooms, fragrant rice, curried lentils, onion bhajis, naan and wholemeal oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Both of us are really looking forward to this meal.  :D

A bit off topic, I apologize, but Mrs T M - £50 a month on food!? Is that really possible? Does that include meals out?   I guess I should go check the blog :)

Dinner for us tonight will be at Prezzo. Yum!

I probably won't be able to keep under £50 this month, what with all the stress of moving (even if it *is* a 5 minute walk from our current place). It is possible though. If I can slim down my portions, it is definitely possible. We have eggs and usually sausage every morning, occasionally oatmeal instead. We also have leftovers for lunch. I cook enough for 4 portions at dinner, then measure out 4 meals, 2 into plates and 2 into containers for the next day. I use menus so I can budget around sales. I also keep a spreadsheet of prices of various stores to see who really has the best price. I also save scraps and make broths. Means we can still get the nutrition out of scraps instead of just trashing them.

We don't go out, not when I can make a full meal, usually better than going out, for a fourth the price. We also don't buy processed foods. I have two slowcookers and I use them. A lot! I am a housewife, so I do have time to cook, plus I enjoy it.

I'm still learning, and always will. I'm always researching as well. :) I'm always open to suggestions as well!

Mrs_T_M that's great. I take it you don't buy much alcohol? (Hehehe that's where most of my shopping £££ goes-  ;D everything else I can get away with making full meals for £ or even pence this time of year when I'm pulling veg outta the ground!)

I made tonight a copycat Chicken Kitchen Deluxe Chop Chop complete with Mustard 'n' Curry Sauce - I'm quite happy!  ;D

People keep giving us bottles of scotch, even though our cabinet is nearly full! Now if I could only get them to give us cherry Belgian beer instead... *plots*

We are going to be moving soon, and we will have nearly double the space here along with a back garden, which means I can grow things again!

The only bad thing about making a curry tonight... We have the windows wide open and we are still making "music"...

I'm planning on making mock "tuna helper" tomorrow with broccoli and peas in it as well. Easy way to get veg into the husband and fish into me.

I'm not feeling to hot today, so depending on my mood come this evening it will either be a French onion soup or Chicken noodle.

I had been thinning out carrots in the allotment, so I had a bunch of baby carrots- red, yellow, purple, and a few different orange types

So what's the best thing to make with lots of baby carrots?

Afghan Carrot Hotpot!  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Mmmm. I threw everything into the slow cooker this morning.
