The Token Brit--My husband is trying to introduce Chip Butties to everyone he knows here. I'll make sure not to tell him about your lasagna and chips! Tonight in my house, "tea" is Spanish chorizo, patatas bravas, olives and manchego cheese, freshly made bread by me and washed down with Tempranillo. Who am I kidding? Everyone in the house will eat and I'll be having liquid dinner!

Haha he may find Lasagne and Chips too weird. I thought it was when I first encountered it in my teens. My mate went to the chippy and when he came back and opened up the wrapper, I was like "Is that LASAGNE???:o and he goes *Welsh accent* "Yeah mun! Its bloody lovely mun!" and I thought it was simply a Welsh thing but apparently it's quite common all over Britain. I hadn't encountered it before!

Back on topic though, we're having Pork milanese and roasted tomatoes with Parmesan and Oregano. Oregano pronounced in the American way, naturally! ;)

We made a curry, over Basmati rice, with Roti bread. I'm not sure what kind of curry it was, since we found the recipe online and it just said "Chicken Curry with Rice". We were just searching for one that didn't requite shopping for one or two (or more) ingredients we didn't have on hand, and found that one. It only called for half and half, cayenne pepper, cooking Sherry, a little salt and enough flour to thicken it.

It was okay but definitely needed more kick.

Loose potato pie. I was surprised when I found out it really isn't a pie at all.  ;D

It is boiled, diced potatoes, with water drained off to about an inch below the top of the potatoes, with gravy granules and corned beef added to it. MIL says you can add carrots and/or peas if you want, but hubby doesn't care for them in there.

I suppose the 'loose' part of the name comes from the fact it doesn't have a crust.

First actual cooked meal in our new place, cottage pie. Last night we were too tired and just got sandwiches and crisps. Today was so hectic we had Hot Pockets for lunch.

It did feel really homey and wonderful, with the scent of the food cooking.

How was the leek and salmon soup? We're really getting into salmon, but I haven't tried it as a soup yet.

It was quite lovely, thanks!  :)

Maybe try it yourself?

The peanut stew did not come to fruition, due to the aforementioned toddler. Too much chopping with a kid underfoot! I'll try it another time.

Tonight we're having leftovers of my very first attempt at British spag bol. It was delicious and my picky child loved it so much he was eating it out of the pot by the spoonful!
