From TX, possibly to UK
« on: December 16, 2010, 06:45:03 PM »
Hi,
I'm just starting to investigate a move to London.  It's come on rather sudden with my husband's job.  If it does happen, we may have less than 2 months to make the move.  I'm completely overwhelmed at the moment.  I have 3 children, one with special needs (Duchenne muscular dystrophy).  What are the most important things to know?  Can a moved with 5 people and possibly pets even be done in just 2 months?

Welcome to UKY  :)

Hopefully your husbands job will be taking care of the visas and provide you, at least temporary, housing.

Can a moved with 5 people and possibly pets even be done in just 2 months?

People yes...pets no.

Visas can take only a week or so to get.

Pets are a 6 month process before you leave the US OR a 6 month quarantine once you reach the UK.

Hello and welcome to UK-Y!

We have a section with many threads devoted on how the PETS scheme works but that will take longer than 2 months as mentioned.  People should be a bit easier to move, but it's important to establish what the company will provide or help with and what they won't (ie housing).

Good luck with your move.
