does anyone live in South Wales, near Port Talbot (or Swansea even)

I have lived in Maesteg, South Wales for a year and still am having difficulty making friends.  I am 26 and have no children and would like to meet and hang out with people hopefully in the same phase of life as myself.

Not sure if you are still active on this site. BUT I know the Maesteg area well. We are moving to Pontyclun BUT relatives are in the Maestag area. My Grandfather was a prominent member of the community and a regular at the Working Mans Club.

I am curious how an American ever found themselves in this village !!!

I didn't see this thread the first time around, but I'm in Caerphilly and am happy to chat about Welsh life or get together if you are ever Cardiff-way.  Hope things are feeling a little better.

I'm in Burry Port (been here since April), and am having the same difficulty! Being without licence or car, and not having permission to work, doesn't help, either! Sitting around the house while my husband is in work has become boring, as well as lonely. The only time I get out of here is to go shopping, and to the local pubs. The women I've met in the pubs come off as being rather catty and vain...not my type of folks, at all!

Anyway, what sorts of things do you like to do? What are your interests and hobbies? I enjoy reading and retaining knowledge, the outdoors, biology, historical costume, and cooking (I'm a geeky chick).

I've been in Milford Haven for going on three weeks now. I often wonder if there are any other Americans down here!

Who are your relatives?  I might know them/know of them.  My husband works in the Sports Centre and knows most people in town because of that.
