This is American Idol!
« on: January 20, 2011, 08:16:14 PM »
American Idol starts tonight!  ;D

I am super excited but also a little annoyed at
Spoiler: show
the new judges though! I really liked having Ellen as a judge  :( They replaced Simon and Ellen with Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, thankfully they kept the dawg (Randy Jackson  ;))
I suppose I'll have to stick it out and see how I like this season. Who else is watching this year?

Not me. I never could stand Randy Jackson and the two new ones, particularly JLo, don't excite me. Boo. I'll have to wait for X Factor now.

I will keep watching because I like the show now matter who the judges are. I guess I'm not so bothered about who the new judges are so much as I am bothered about Ellen leaving. Does that make sense? haha.

I'm not really going to watch until they get to the final group. The auditions are too tedious for me.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Watching it right now.  I just love watching the auditions.  Some of the people who audition are just so ridiculous.  It's like a train wreck that you just have to rubber neck when going past.

I had it on lastnight while I was sewing...didn't pay too much attention but LOVE LOVE LOVE steven tyler as a judge!!!  JLo I've never particularly liked but she actually seems pretty funny (was dying laughing when she literally stuck her fingers in her ears while one person was singing).

I think it will be pretty good but I'm more excited over X Factor (just like the way the show is setup better than Idol).  UK X Factor judges irk the #$(@ out of me (aside form Dannii...I like her).

I've always been a Steven Tyler fan, but I wasn't sure how he'd be as a judge.  I loved him!! In a bizarre way, he's almost like a male Paula, and instantly quotable.  There were so many things that were a bit nutty ( in a good way!) that he came out with, and I laughed a lot more than I expected to.

The new panel seem to click pretty good so far. I know it is only the first episode but I usually have a few stand out contestants and I didn't seem to have that after watching. The only one I even slightly remember was the 16 3/4 year old girl with the annoying voice! She could sing pretty good but when she spoke It was like nails on a chalkboard for me. I don't see why the judges were so excited about her  ???

This story brought tears to my eyes...and then I heard him sing and had to try very hard to hold it together since my hubby was in the room.  :P He is right at the top of my list after this. Go Chris!

I tried watching but I didn't like it. Randy was always my least favourite judge and I really can't warm to either Steven Tyler or JLo. Plus, on the episode I watched, they seemed to put through some really awful singers! I wanted to like it but ... nope.  :(

That's a shame Chary. I think a lot of the time they have to put through the less talented people in order to do Hollywood week. If they didn't let so many through the first round of additions they wouldn't be able to boot them all out at Hollywood Week Boot Camp!  ;) Saying that, I felt the same watching the first episode with the new judges and at first I wasn't really feeling it either. Now I have gotten into it and they all crack me up.

I love Steven Tyler more each week.  He just kills me!  He's like, "That sounded like it was from God" and when people are singing his songs and he starts singing with them.  And when someone sounded really terrible and he was all, "That sounded angelic".  ROFL.
