Personally, I drink a lot of coffee...and I mean at least a pot a day. I like my coffee. When I'm on a road trip I like my Starbucks...especially when I'm driving. So yeah, I do like the idea.

Just an FYI - this size will not be available in the UK market.

Ridiculous. And not in a good way. That goes hand-in-hand with all the supersized food. We don't need any of it.

Starbucks have said that it's only for the US market...and won't be introduced in the UK, just like there is no 'Supersize' here (the UK version of supersize is actually the US Large).

And just like supersize, if you don't want it don't buy it.

It's not just US food & food companies either...anyone had a full english lately?  :P

I don't even want to think of how many calories are in a mocha or latte of that size. Yikes!

One good thing about moving to the U.K.: my portion size "preferences" have definitely adjusted. In the States I would be a grande or even a venti kinda girl, but now I'm quite satisfied with a little coffee. You come to appreciate the "less is more" philosophy a bit more here.

That's not really the point.

It's only going to be available for iced coffee & tea drinks, which Starbucks in the UK doesn't carry.  No mochas, lattes, frappucinos, etc.

They do have the iced drinks here, but I don't think they have all of them.  I had an iced Americano from Starbucks over the summer.

So looking forward to exactly that Oona!

Let's face it - it happened with sodas in the 70s-80s here in the states (big gulp, super big gulp). It was somewhat inevitable with coffee. I'm sure a 64oz is in the works.

An iced americano isn't the same as an iced brewed coffee.  Americanos are shots of espresso + water (and ice in the case of the iced version).  Iced coffee is filter coffee brewed to double strength and then iced.  The trenta won't be available for espresso based drinks or frapps, just brewed iced coffee and tea.  That being said, I'm sure there will be a fair share of people requesting an "iced 5 shot espresso in a trenta cup" and then filling up the cup with milk at the condiment bar.  But the computer system won't allow a trenta latte, for example, to be rung up.

OMG! When can I get one! I always drink GIANT coffees when I am in the states, I nurse them all day, and my dad calls them "Pails" I can't wait to get me a pail of coffee!!

I like to get my hot coffee in the morning, and drink it throughout the day as it gets colder and colder. Strange I know!

I was a barista for 5 years, so I'm aware of what the difference is.  I still count espresso as coffee though, so I just misread what you were saying.
