All the BA strikes are exactly the reason why I will NEVER book with BA.. Fullstop!!!!
Added:
Flew BA about 12 years ago and like the good dr.. actually did like the flight .. but once the union started getting involved I vowed to never book with them again.. I have so far kept that and intend to.. Shame really...

Same for me, which makes me sad because the one time I did fly BA it was one of the best flying experiences I've ever had. I absolutely DESPISE the Unite Union, and I think the cabin crew who do this are a shower of ba****ds. This time their striking over travel perks- perks, when they're already the best paid cabin crews in the UK and at a time when so many people are unemployed! They're completely out of touch and don't deserve the least concession from BA.
Arrived as student 9/2003; Renewed student visa 9/2006; Applied for HSMP approval 1/2008; HSMP approved 3/2008; Tier 1 General FLR received 4/2008; FLR(M) Unmarried partner approved (in-person) 27/8/2009; ILR granted at in-person PEO appointment 1/8/2011; Applied for citizenship at Edinburgh NCS 31/10/2011; Citizenship approval received 4/2/2012

I don't really know enough about their actual points of contention to comment on the validity of the strikes, though I generally support unions.  But this is absolutely why I didn't book my travel through BA, and why I never will.

I tend to think that most unions have outlived their usefulness.  Clearly, they were needed a century ago when there were appalling work conditions, but now they just seem to create problems and cost both the employees and employers.  My ex boyfriend was a city employee and paid a stupid amount of money every paycheck to be in the union.  He didn’t make much, so it really hurt.  What did the union do?  They managed to get everyone an increase in salary for working outside.  The increase didn’t cover 1/3rd the increase in dues that year.  I guess the only thing it did was prevent him from being fired.  With all of their rules it was pretty much impossible to fire a parks employee.  Thus he called out sick a few times a month, was never on time, and would sleep under bridges instead of doing his job.  NYC tax dollars at work!

Saying this, I do agree that there should be a teachers union, they don’t get enough for what they do.

April is exactly when they are planning to do it.  Over Easter/Wedding time is the rumour anyway.

I have a trip planned back home on BA at exactly that time.   Fingers crossed.
