I quit my job today...
« on: February 02, 2011, 11:09:35 PM »
To become a stay at home mother, or professional school runner/coffee drinker/playgroup attendee...that kind of thing. I'm very excited!

I have been in my job through three different companies with the same basic group of people for the last 12 years, and I was due to go back next week (but taking some holiday and going to Florida next week) and my husband and I have had a long talk and decided the logistics and financial aspects of my working were not worth it! We would only be about £300 pounds better off with me working 4 days...so yes! I am now a stay at home mother!!! A kept lady!!! A coffee drinking, gabbing, playgroup going, mother!

Wish me luck!!

That's fantastic!  I am pretty sure next spring I won't be returning to my job, as well. I may try to pick up some work from home but going back and paying for childcare just won't be worth it.

OH yay!  I always said there was no way I could be a stay-at-home-mom but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world now!!  I'm planning to start working once LO is in school (if there isn't a 3rd LO by then) but I'd be devasted if I had to leave him before then.

Welcome to the club!  ;D
We stole countries with the cunning use of flags. Just sail around the world and stick a flag in. "I claim India for Britain!" They're going "You can't claim us, we live here! Five hundred million of us!" "Do you have a flag …? "What? We don't need a flag, this is our home, you bastards" "No flag, No Country, You can't have one! Those are the rules... that I just made up!...and I'm backing it up with this gun, that was lent to me from the National Rifle Association."

Congrats!  I quit full time work when I was 28 weeks pregnant with our oldest (over 10 years ago).
I think the best part for me is being able to go volunteer in school.
