Hi I'm from Washington DC
« on: February 15, 2011, 05:02:05 PM »
Hi
I'm new to this forum.  I live in Leeds.  I'm from Washington DC.  Anyone else from DC?  I've lived in Leeds for 5 years and have never met another American.  I can't believe it.

Hi Lisa,

I'm currently visiting my parents in SW MD, and worked in DC for a year a while back. I just spent the morning driving around 270/495, and am so glad I don't have to deal with any of that in London!

Welcome to UKY. :)

Not from DC, but I know there's loads of Americans in Leeds.  I hope a few make contact.  The ladies of Leeds are lovely!  :)

I don't miss driving in DC that's for sure.  It's a nightmare!  Thanks for your replies.  I'm not sure how to work this forum very well yet but hope to get the hang of it.

I spent 9 years in DC (living on Cap Hill) from 1994-2003 and then out in Montgomery County in 2006-2007.  I definitely do not miss the traffic -- it made Boston traffic seem pleasant by comparison!  I've yet to drive in the UK -- living in central London makes it easy.

Welcome to UK-Y.

Oh good, you found us. I'm the one who sent the link through Vicky.

There are a load of us here. I'm surprised you've not run into one or two already. What part of Leeds are you in?

Welcome to UKY.

Thanks Ashley!  And thanks everyone for your replies.  I don't feel so alone now.  lol
I live in Garforth and work in city centre Leeds so you'd think I would have run into another American at some point but I haven't!  I thought I was the only one.   :o

Lol - you're not the only one!  But you are over to the east of Leeds (Garforth) & most of the 'mericans I know around here are up here in the northwest 'burbs - a number of us at actually quite close proximity - lol!  Maybe there are others over your way too, but I haven't met them.

I'm not from DC.  Welcome to the forum!

I've lived here in Leeds for 7 years.

I just wonder why there are so many in that part of Leeds.  Do all the estate agents send people over that way?  It is a nice area but where I live is nice too. lol

I'm sure Garforth is nice!  I think it's just one of those freak random things that a bunch of us happened to be on this forum & then found out we live near each other - lol!
