Any one live in Warwickshire?
« on: February 21, 2011, 08:43:21 PM »
Hi my name is Kay and i currently live in Portsmouth. I have written before on UK yankee but it has been awhile. My husband is starting a new position next week. His office is in Warwick. He is communting between Warwick for his work and where we currently live in Portsmouth. We have to move to Warwickshire now because our landlord has sold our flat from underneath us. WE have to leave Portsmouth by April 30th. I was wondering with starting a new adventure in a new place is if there is anyone that lives in Warwickshire. I was unable to make any friends in Portsmouth and i would like the opportunity to meet new and interesting people so that my husband and i could have a social life. May be moving to Nuneaton .

We're just down the road in Coventry and I'll be having our second child at the George Eliot hospital in Nuneaton any time now.  :)

Yes!  I live near Leamington Spa and Warwick. What draws you to Nuneaton?

My husband works for 1st software in Warwick. He has been a trainer for them for the past 10 years. He is now gotten a product manager position so he does not have to be on the road as much. Communting from Warwick back down to Portsmouth is taking a toll on him and his car with the mileage. He no longer has access to a company car. He had to buy his Dad's car last month when the lease on the company car expired. Another reason we are moving to Warwickshire is that our landlord has sold our flat from underneath us so we have to be out by April 30th. It will be a 20 mile commute from Nuneaton to Warwick. Another reason for being in Nuneaton is that Warwick, Stratford and Leamington Spa has rent that we cannot afford at this time. I have to give up my part time job here in Portsmouth and i will more than likely be unemployed for the remainder of this year. It is a pain to move under difficult cirmumstances, but i feel like i have nothing to lose in moving to a new place. The Warwickshire area holds special meaning to my husband since he did spend some time at uni in Coventry. I am glad to hear that there is someone here that lives in Warwickshire. Write me back and tell me how your experience has been living in this area?

Hi Kay,   I don't post much here, especially now that I've been here for a while, but I'm living in Leamington. It's a nice area, as is Warwick. Have you looked into some of the surrounding villages? surely you can find something closer to Warwick than Nuneaton? The train journey between L/Spa and Nuneaton takes an hour because of connections. Just a thought!!

Anyway, when you move up lets meet for a coffee!  All are welcome!      Barb

Just a suggestion - it might be worthwhile to purchase an ordinance survey of the Leamington, Warwick area so you get a good idea of the area.  You may find something less expensive to rent in one of the villages near Warwick.  Waterstone's and W.H. Smith sell ordinance surveys.  I think you'll want the Stratford-upon-Avon one.

You might try looking for something in Harbury or Bishops Itchington or maybe Southam.

Hope this helps.  Let us know how you are getting along.
