In Bristol and wondering if there are any other expats local ...
« on: February 27, 2011, 05:38:30 PM »
Hi everyone!  Long time no check in.  I've been here since Oct 22nd and it is all going well.  Minor upsets like homesickness at times, cultural differences, sun withdrawl (lol), bizarre foods (it said ham, cheese and pickle - what the hell is this brown sauce!!!???), etc.

So, as I've been here a while and having a tough time making friends, thought I would see if there are any Americans local who would like to meet up for coffee and conversation.

I hope everyone is well and hope to see how everyone's been getting on as I thumb through the posts.

I'm an American chick no matter where I roam...

Hi, I'm not American, but I am Bristol born and raised and have also lived in the US as a student in the past. At the moment, I'm sort of flitting between Exeter, Bristol and Shropshire (currently living in Exeter, moving to Shropshire for 4 months in April and I stay with my parents in Bristol occasionally), but I'll probably be around in Bristol on the weekends quite often in the next few months if you wanted to meet up :).

We aren't there but if we can't find work next year near hubby's home town we may be looking at Bristol. Our current employer has an office there :)

I'm not in Bristol, but live in Bath - not too far away - and would be happy to get together.

I'm in Bristol.

There are a lot of local adventure things I haven't done yet if anyone is interested.

I want to do the pirate tour and take the boat trip from Bristol to Bath.  I also would love to go antique shopping in Bath!

I'm a tad closer to Swindon and wouldn't mind meeting up for a day
Would love the drive to getaway.  If Nikki is free I'll drag her out for the weekend too ;0
(sorry Nikki, couldn't resist..)  ;D

If you're ever up in Cardiff across the bridge and want to meet up, I'm happy to do so.  It's a little hard for me to get down to Bristol with the babies, but I'm happy to meet up if anyone comes this direction.  Welcome!

What is the pirate tour?  I'm in Bath and haven't heard of it.  If you go antiquing in Bath, don't miss Old Bank Antiques on London Road.  Was just there this weekend....

The pirate tour is in Bristol.  It's a walk round the Quay and Quay adjacent places of pirate significance, led by a guide in character.
