Norwich?
« on: March 02, 2011, 06:21:25 PM »
What's there to do and/or see in Norwich? I'll be there for a couple of days later this month to visit an elderly aunt and have no idea what to do with my free time.

Norwich Cathedral is nice, Norwich Castle & Art Gallery as well.

If you're up for a bit of a drive though & want to get out of Norwich (the city), there are some lovely seaside areas - Holkham Beach (near Holkham Hall & Estate), also Wells-Next-the-Sea.

Also, Blickling Estate is nearby, near Aylsham - a pretty little market town.

No car. I'll be taking the train and staying somewhere central. The art gallery sounds great, though! Thanks!

You can go to the Colman's Mustard Shop & Museum.  :D

The Forum is a modern building near the castle & all - place to hang out, eat & shop.

There's quite a lot of a Roman wall still standing.

I second Mrs R's recs. Norwich is nice. There are antique shops dotted around too.

It's my hubby's hometown!  ;D

(but my favourite bits are the nearby countryside, the seaside, etc)

Also, it's very flat there - the landscape (not hilly).

Now that would definitely be my choice of things to see, but I'll have another aunt (I have billions of them) with me and I don't think it would be her cup of tea.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Antique shops sound good, Olive!  :)
