Got my package from the NY consulate....
« on: August 27, 2004, 02:49:20 PM »
So I wake up this morning, get dressed and no sooner then doing all of that the door bell rings. I run to get it (as they tend to scurry off quickly with your package) he hands it to me tells me to have a nice day and off I am to get my Mom out of her room so that we can open the package together.

As I open it, I see all of my pictures, my marriage certificate and then....my passport. I take it out and flip through it run across my visitors visa and then...in the very back....

MY SPOUSAL VISA!!!!!!!  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

I could NOT believe that they actually gave me a visa without interviewing me or my husband. I guess he and I had more than enough evidence that they didn't even need to contact us. It was brilliant!!! I got everything back that I asked them to send me back, pictures and the marriage certificate being the most important, but I can't believe that I've actually got my visa now!!!!

My Mom and I are working out the financials of getting the money together for my flight out there, of course my hubby is excited as ever...have to call my grandparents and everyone else to let them know that I have gotten my visa but will have to do that once I come down a bit!!

I just wanted to let all of you know on here and thank each and every one of you! All of you who have stood beside me telling me it would be ok and not to worry but wishing me all the best in the world...thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart!!!

I'm going to go for a bit now, have to call my sister and my Dad at work to let them know too!! *hugs* Thanks again all of you and take care!!!!

brillant!  I know the waiting for that package is grueling..  now just enjoy the time you have left with your family before you leave to be with your husband!  :)
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Another quick question - my visa has my maiden name on it even though my passport was ammended to my married surname....is that what it's supposed to have on it? I just want to make sure that I am good to go as I will be traveling on 7 September.

So anyone who knows I would greatly appreciate knowing!!

And thank you all for you sweet comments, I can't wait to get back to him and he is really excited he has told EVERYONE he knows LoL!! It's going to be great to be back together!

Congrats! I remember how I felt when I got my Spouse visa. My old passport with my old name was expired so I submitted a new passport with my new married name on it to the Home Office so Im afraid I cant help much there. I doubt you will have a problem traveling though.

Also, are they interviewing people now? Three years ago when we applied we did everything through the mail. Not one question was asked.

I was interviewed for my National Insurance Number but it was painless. Mostly just them going over the required documents with me. Took about an hour.

Pebbles

I'm hoping someone will have an answer for me on that question soon - I can't imagine that it would be a problem. My passport reflects both my maiden and married surname's so I can't imagine that it would be a problem that the visa says my maiden name.

They shipped everything back to me with my married surname on it and all of the other papers said it as well, the only one that says my maiden name....is the visa. I was thinking because it lists my husbands name on there (as well as being ammended in the back of my passport) that it would not be a problem. I really hope that it's not.

Cheers again all...and many thanks if someone can answer this for me!!!

I think I read that they always issue the spousal visa in the maiden name. So it shouldn't be a problem. As you say, it's stuck in your passport with your married name so it's gotta belong to you!

Thanks hun - I'm really getting close to calling the consulate and making sure. But I guess if it's all ok I mean I have ID that reflects both names. I think it will be ok!

Cheers!! x
