Transferring from Uni in U.S to UK Help
« on: May 19, 2011, 12:06:43 AM »
I have just completed my first year over here in the US at Texas A&M, I want to transfer to the University of Leeds. Would I be able to transfer without having to completely start over or would credits transfer? I read somewhere about a second year entry type thing. Any info is appreciated.

That's something you're really going to have to ask U of Leeds about. Every university is different on what they will or will not except.  One more thing..

Transferring heavily depends on what you wish to take and what classes you took. For example, if you wanted to do a medical degree at a UK university, then English 101 taken at university won't count or be transferred. Depending upon your university grades, the University of Leeds might offer you first year entry or foundation course. If you took a lot of courses relevant to your degree, then you'll have a better chance of transferring to a UK uni.

Uni of Leeds seems pretty set on making international students start from year 1 or foundation year. I tried transfering there to start from second year after going to a uk university and transfering to the same course as I was studying at the first uni. I was also getting good marks and they still asked me to start with year 1.

UK uni's are different, there are no general ed classes like there are in the US. Every module is related to the course that you choose.
