Civil Ceremony Photographer?
« on: May 31, 2011, 05:32:11 PM »
is it possible to pay a photographer for just a few hours of work as opposed to an entire day of formal shoots? Most everyone i've looked at is insanely priced and have packages that are too big for our little wedding. i've tried calling some, just asking for them to take photos of a small get together, but as soon as i give them the location of the registry office, the prices jump to the wedding packages.

i've dropped some requests around with mutual friends to see if they had anyone who had an interest in taking photos for pay but haven't had any luck yet.

I had a tip to go put flyers up at art colleges, but i'd like to find someone formally that has a bit of a portfolio.  our wedding is going to be tiny: us and maybe a handfull of witnesses. We aren't having a ceremony until we head back to the states so my family can be involved.

Any ideas?

Have you contacted the registry office? They may have photographers they can reccomend for your budget.

Yes unfortunatly the girl answering my call and taking my deposit couldn't even advise me on the ceremony requirements. I felt bad but i could hear they were swamped due to the season. She told me to stop in and ask someone else.

have you tried asking on hitched.co.uk?

or if you're near Coventry, we had Neil Jeffs http://www.neiljeffsphotography.co.uk/ and he was quite reasonable
