NJ/NYC girl met English BF on Match.com.uk
« on: June 03, 2011, 10:43:44 PM »
Hi guys!

I am FINALLY introducing myself after a whole bunch of posts and questions I have been asking on the board. Mainly in the Visa section.

Firstly, I want to thank everyone who has replied to me here at UK/Yankee, this messageboard has helped me tremendously, helping with my questions and worries beyond belief.  Thank you so much for your time and effort in answering my questions.  I appreciate it very much.

I am an American girl from the Northern New Jersey/ New York City area.  I joined Match.co.uk because I had a penchant for English men as opposed to American men.

I met my current boyfriend on Match.co.uk back in early October 2010.
He noticed me first which is a good!!  :)

We began corresponding and then Skyping for months.  We really liked each other so much and we decided to meet each other and I took a huge risk and quit my job, moved out of my apartment to meet which seemed to be my British Prince.

I then booked a flight for January 1st 2011 to fly out of Newark Airport into Heathrow.  I saw him waiting for me and that's where we began our REAL relationship.

I have stayed here with him in his London flat for almost about five months now. This last month in June now will be my last month with him to total 6 months here on my visitors visa and this is the best relationship I have ever been in.  The communication between us has been virtually perfect.

It is true when you hear others who have been in love for a long time and they say, "You JUST KNOW the right person for you when they come along."

This, to me, has rung true for me, where I thought it never experience this feeling of "rightness"

We are flying back to the States to JFK at the end of this month of June and get married at City Hall in NYC.  It's not the most romatic of ceremonies, (You Tube City Hall wedding ceremonies are devoid of any romance!) However, it will provide us with the paperwork we need to be together if approved!  I am hoping for the best!

He is going to meet my family and I am so excited for the future!  I am so in love, I want to start my life with my English hottie and a true soulmate.  "You just KNOW".

Congratulations!!!

LOL!  I laugh because it was almost the same format with me.

I've known my now husband for over 10 years, online.  We'd never met but we always admired each other.  He married (someone else I knew from online) and I was in a relationship.  Fast forward to fall of 2009. He was in the process of his divorce and over that summer we'd become best of friends.  What we didn't know was that we'd each fallen in love with each other, without the other one realizing it.  When we figured it out, we didn't know what to do.  We didn't expect to do anything.

Then one day, my fiance (yeah...i was still in another relationship, but was already heading out the door) gave me a final ultimatum.  4 hours later, my company called me...I was being laid off.  If that wasn't the universe handing me a do-over, I don't know what it could have been.

I took the sign, and said I'm going to visit friends in the UK.  November 23, 2009, I got off the train platform and gave hugs to two adorable kids and then...I looked into the eyes of this man and knew.  Just...knew.  And when I walked into his home, it FELT like home.

I went back to NY, broke it off once and for all with my now ex-fiance.  and then in April 2010 I flew out here on a visitor visa waiver program and lived with my new fiance, making sure it was right.  In September 2010 I returned to the states for my fiance visa (we were going to travel and get married in NY but there was a problem with his status and he couldn't get the visa).  I came back in October, we were married in November.

When you know, you KNOW.  You never truly understand it until it happens to you and shakes you down to your core.

Best of luck with the wedding and the visa! And welcome again to UKY!
