Help! 4 July - Norfolk area
« on: June 06, 2011, 10:51:07 PM »
Hiya,

We're going to be in the Norfolk area around the 4th of July, and was wondering if anyone knows of anything worth seeing or doing about that time?  We live in Yorkshire, and I know that in the past a few English Heritage and or National Trust properties 'down south' of us usually do special events for the 4th of July, hence why I'm asking.

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried checking out the US air force bases, like Mildenhall in Suffolk - they might have some July 4th events on

If the weather's fine, I'd head for the beach!  Such beautiful beaches in Norfolk:

Blickling Hall is National Trust but doesn't look like any 4th of July events there.

There is also a base with American prescence in Norfolk - Feltwell, and there is Lakenheath in Suffolk.

That said I'm not sure if their Independence Day celebrations are on or off base.

Other than that I've been in Norwich for the past two summers and I can't remember anything happening around the 4th. Sorry. :(

Unfortunately, don't you have to know someone with orders to be able to go on base?  Plus, would they allow non-USCs on base, as my OH & in-laws aren't USCs.   :-\\\\

Check TownPoint Park which is located in Downtown Norfolk. I am sure there will be fireworks on Monday.

Cheers my dear! You don't by any chance know of anything near Sherringham do you? I know it's the real ale / potty festival, but that's just the weekend...

Feltwell is supposed to have a 4th celebration that is open to the public.  We are going to check it out.
