NFL fans should start singing songs. Or can you imagine Memorial Stadium filled with songs? :) I love that part of footie fandom.

I agree! At first I thought it was a little silly because the songs seem to have nothing to do with football, or any sport, but I really love hearing them. It's definitely a fun part of the footie experience.

Anyone else have a hard time adjusting to calling soccer football?

My home town team, Peterborough Posh was promoted to the League Championship from the league below this season too, so now I'll get to watch West Ham in February at London Road!

Whatever you do when you get there, don't call them Peterborough Posh, Posh is a nickname but not part of their regularly name - it doesn't work the same as Nebraska Huskers.

Haha! I had no idea! Thanks. :) I'm sure it's not the first time I mess something up and make myself look like an ignorant Yank. ;)

My english wife has never had this issue...she just hates all sports and can't see the point of it. :-[

So in the end I just tell her to support all the teams I do :) and not one of em English.  Been a NY Red Bulls fan since 2002 when they were the Metro and I'll die a Red Bulls fan.  I just can't see myself supporting any club here - at least not passionately...of course my choices locally are Birmingham City and Villa...so....yeah....

Go for QPR! Queens Park Rangers!
They are a proper working class club, set in the heart of a working class area, they aren't a trendy or flash club, like lets say, Chelsea! [smiley=evilgrin.gif] they got into the Premier League this year through sheer hard work, not by money! Like lets say, Chelsea! [smiley=evilgrin.gif]    QPR, QPR, QPR!!

Arsenal is the pits. Their manager is a total whiner and it's never their fault that they've lost. Ugh.  ::)

DH is a Liverpool fan and he's not from there nor is his father a fan (he's Arsenal). I think when he was a teenager he just liked some of the players and the love grew from there. In order to keep the marriage sound, I am also a fan. However, I actually prefer to watch Barcelona.  ;)  It's okay, I've come clean to him!

Is that serious? They were one of the richest club outside the Premier league, bankrolled by Bernie Eccleston (F1), put season tickets up by something like 50% for this season.

Yes that is true, but what have they spent to get them up up into the Premiership. Their star player last year was a Tottenham reject!! Even now they're not spending big, Dyer, Bothroyd, Campbell? Even the 13 million they were gonna get for Tarrabt was not earmarked for buying players. Warnock is building a team with experience and passion, he's not buying his way into the big time. Unlike Chelsea, Man City etc. [smiley=evilgrin.gif]

Posh. Peterborough.
