Pitt cue company - bbq truck in London

So the boy and I went to Pitt Cue company today, they're a little BBQ joint operating on the Southbank under Hungerford Bridge.

You choose pickle/slaw a protein and you get bread and pickle.

There's a review and some pictures here here -

Zomg the pulled pork and beans is absolutely lush! Just a great combo and the pickle is out of this world good. The brisket is not what I'm used to as being described as brisket, as it was kinda stewed down and similar in texture to the pulled pork, but it was still really tasty. Also they serve Barq's root beer which made the boy happy.

We went around 1pm and they were sold out of ribs and crackling, they started cooking more again later I believe (around 6pm) according to their twitter.

Anyway, if you fancy some bbq, it's well worth the trip down before it gets crazy popular, when I was ordering Jay Rayner, the observer food critic was in the queue with me and he seemed to be well up for it, so expect a review there soon :)

I like that you sit on overturned yellow bucket thingies - reminds me of home.

Sounds heavenly to me. I crave good BBQ. The fact they serve Barq's root beer would also be enough of a reason for me to go. ;D

Oh nice! We walked past there on Thursday night but wanted a sit-down so ended up going elsewhere. Now that we know it's good, we'll have to arrange for a takeaway. ;)

DH and I went to the Pitt Cue in Soho for lunch today (the restaurant, not the truck).

The last time we went for dinner, the queue was 2.5 hours long so we gave up.  Today, we got the timing right and only had to wait 15-20 minutes.  It's very small, can only seat about 30 people, and be prepared to be cozy with your dining neighbor.

BUT OH MY GOD THE BBQ WAS AWESOME!!!!!  I CAN UNDERSTAND THOSE WHO DO WAIT HOURS FOR A TABLE!!

We had the pulled pork each, shared a half order of rib tips, two orders of bone marrow mash with the most AMAZING gravy, and A&W root beer and cream soda.  We smothered the meat with their BBQ sauce (for the pulled pork) and hot sauce (for the ribs), and it was just BBQ juicy saucy goodness.  The BBQ sauce was full of spices, sweet, tangy and delicious.  The hot sauce was warming and flavorful without being too hot as to not be able to taste the meat and other spices in the sauce.  But it had a great kick.  For the two of us, it was about £30 inclusive of VAT and service charge.

I love love LOVE good proper BBQ and had a few places in the US I used to hit up often.  I think this place could give them a run for their money, really.  If you're into fantastic BBQ and are willing to queue, I highly highly recommend this place.

Though be warned, they don't take reservations and a queue is likely.  For dinner, the people generally start arriving 30 minutes before they even open and if they get busy, as I mentioned before, you could be in a 2.5 hour wait.

I don't care though.  I'm in love.   [smiley=smitten.gif]
