Visa question?
« on: August 20, 2011, 05:19:45 PM »
I already submitted my application (and thought I did everything right as I read things a million times).

However, my question is, can you switch from a regular application to a priority appointment, does anyone know? I live in NYC so it's not a big deal for me to get to the consulate.

Also, I checked no for crimes (including traffic) because I completely forgot about a ticket I got back in April, however, I paid it, and it was a first. Also, I wasn't issued a summons or anything. Does anyone think this will be a problem?

I am also in NYC and received my visa in just over 2 weeks using the standard processing. Once your application is submitted however, I do not believe you have the option to switch to the premium service. But to be honest, the consulate seems to work diligently in processing these applications. Unless you need your visa urgently, I wouldn't worry about using the standard route. It really did not take that long once my application was assigned for review to an Entry Clearance Officer.

The consulate has a page that lists processing time for visas. You can view that here:

Also, I do not think your ticket should be an issue. Violations (incl. traffic violations for which you are issued a ticket) are not crimes. Then again, IANAL. But i think you can rest easy with this.

Good luck to you!

Thanks, I'm just nervous, since I know they got the mail, but I didn't get my email yet...

Also, my Uni just posted back that there's no housing for me after I put that I paid for accommodation.
Freaking out. This is not a good beginning to the week.
