Moving from the UK to the US.
« on: September 29, 2011, 10:43:19 PM »
Hey folks,

Myself and my Husband are moving back to the states possibly, and i'm delving in to any research i can find on flying my dog into a certain airport. Sea-Tac International in Seattle, WA. Can ANYONE point me to the right direction so i can see if there are any restrictions on bringing her into that specific State/Airport.

Thanks :)

I think your best bet would be to contact the airport. I found the people who deal with animals at Logan and Heathrow were as helpful as can be (oh, and TFGreen airport in Providence many years ago).

If I were you, I'd fly into Vancouver BC with Air Canada and then take her to seattle.

We flew our pets Air Canada to Edmonton and they did a great job.

Thanks for replying so quickly.

We'll be living in WA State and i would have thought there would be a quarantine for her from flying into the US from the UK. I'm not completely sure that this will help any.... but i will most certainly look into it. Thanks so much!!! :)

No advice about flying to Washington but we did fly 2 dogs from the UK to Chicago a few years back.  At the time the cost was just an excess baggage fee for each kennel but that would depend on the airline.  As far as paperwork there was no quarentine issues at all all they needed was a fit to fly cert from the vet.  they probably needed a rabis vaccination too but then I think when we arrived and said we came from the UK they didn't even look at our paperwork just waived us through-- much easier than UK to US

To land in Canada, all we needed was Rabies vaccination record and the airline required a health certificate.   Customs checked them over, cleared the paperwork and they were ours again.  Going into the US is about as simple.  As long as you have your vaccination records, there is no problem.
