How about it? Any actual Brits want to let us Yanks in on the jokes?

I've been here 5+ years and can only get 4/10.

Obviously, I'm missing something.  :D

Really?  Maybe it was because I went to Uni here for a year?

OR maybe it is because I watch an obscene (according to my husband  :P ) amount of TV.

I can only every get it up to 9/10, but my husband thinks it might be part of the joke.

I only got 6/10 the first time I did it, and I'm a Brit :P. Wasn't sure what I got wrong though because I thought I knew nearly all the jokes - I eventually managed to get 10/10, but that was only by changing 1 answer at a time to figure out what they considered to be the 'correct' answer.

How about it? Any actual Brits want to let us Yanks in on the jokes?

Okay, the jokes:

1) Bruce Forsyth's most famous saying

2) Not really a joke, I guess, but you just have to have been in a UK canteen when someone drops a tray to know what the usual reaction is.

3) Ant and Dec have been working together as a duo for over 20 years... they started out as child actors in Byker Grove in 1989 (Ant and Dec - Byker Grove Clips), then after they left the show, they launched a 'pop career' under the name 'PJ & Duncan' (the names of their Byker Grove characters) - they released 18 singles and 3 albums between 1994 and 1997 (their most well-known song: PJ & Duncan AKA - "Let's Get Ready To Rhumble"). After they stopped making records, they turned to presenting TV shows... the joke is that no one can tell them apart... they are just 'Ant and Dec' (or as Bill Nighy addressed one of them in Love Actually: 'Ant-or-Dec'). To help people tell them apart though, they always stand the same way around every time they are together :P. They are so often thought of as one entity because everyone talks about them as 'Ant-and-Dec' that one of my friends from Australia thought they were just one person named Anton Dec  ;D.

4) Salt and vinegar: for your fish and chips

5) DFS are constantly advertising their sofa sales on TV

6) The theme tune to the Dad's Army TV show

7) Typical headline in the Sun when it's hot

8 ) I got this one wrong, but just Googled it: the answer is in the lyrics to Pulp's Common People

9) Can't really comment on this one without giving away the answer :P

10) Wasn't sure about the answer to this one as I don't know the joke or story behind it

Question 10: look up the words to the march "Colonel Bogey" - popular during WW2, it's what they're whistling in the film "Bridge on the River Kwai" and a few others. You'll quite commonly hear the music but rarely the words, which are somewhat obscene.

I'm late to the party, but I still wanted to post my results. 8/10 not too bad.
