i love my kitty ....but......
« on: November 02, 2011, 06:14:14 PM »
I am about to pull my hair out bc he wont stay out my bed! I get it... cats want to cuddle, be warm and all that. However I do not want him sleeping with me. I have gotten beds for him, spray him with water, i use the coin in a can.... and he always end up back in my bed.

at this point i am waking up every 1-2 hours to move him. I don't want to put him outside because its cold... Also i don't want him in other areas of the house bc my mom is still skittish around him lol...

HELP

My ex and I used to have a sheet on top of the bed so that the cat would only 'dirty' the sheet rather than the blanket or anything else.  So every few days it could be washed.  It's worth a try if the main reason you don't want her on the bed is because of hair / dander.

i love to hold and pet my cat but when it comes to sleeping with me.. i find that unsanitary for some reason. so that would be an option

My cat was the same, nothing would stop her.  In the end I put a small blanket at the bottom of the bed and she used that.

I wish our cat would sleep in bed with us! He does some nights, but not always.

If you aren't willing to close your bedroom door to keep him out, then I have no other advice to give. That's the approach we have finally taken to keep ours out of the bed. My male cat not only loves to sleep in bed with us, he wants to sleep under the covers with us. If we don't let him under the covers, he'll stand on our pillows and howl until one of us lets him under. At 3:00am, having a Siamese howling in your ear is more than just a bit annoying.

We put a blanket on our bed so both the cat and dog can sleep with us both insist and the dog howels the place down if we don't let him, also both can push open the bedroom door even if we shut it so we gave up lol.

Our other cat is however quite happy to sleep downstairs I guess they all different.

Love pads, blanket sounds a good solution to me x

My first cat wasn't bothered. She liked sleeping on beds sometimes, but not with people in them!  :)

My old flatmate's cat, however, liked to sleep ON people and sometimes under the covers. It was a very anxious cat that hadn't had a very good life before she came to us, so I felt bad making her go away. My flatmate was almost never there at night so it fell to me to be the cat snuggler. I am another person who put a sheet over the comforter so that I wouldn't have to wash it all the time.

There are worse things to be!  :)

When my old cat got sick she started to sleep *under* the covers and then the sheet thing no longer served it's purpose.  Her days were numbered at that point and we knew it so we just let her stay under the covers whenever she wanted to.  :(

Mine likes to sit on my pillow next to my head, purring like an engine in my ear. Then occasionally lean over to sniff my face, tickling me with his whiskers. ::)

I miss my cuddly kitty!  :\\\'( Nothing like waking up to a paw being pushed against your face or a nose in the ear!

Our current cat likes to sleep on the bed to be near us, but she doesn't cuddle. For a little cat she sure does take up a lot of space!

Is there a room you can lock him in at night? That has worked for a few cats I've had. or at least until one of the figured out to sproing the door stop relentlessly when she wanted to be let out...

Too cute!  Back when Poochie was alive and healthy we'd keep her *in* the bedroom (not locked, but shut) with us in the summer as it was the only air-conditioned room and summer in Philly in a small apartment is a blistering swamp.  But when she needed to litter box she'd reach up with her paw and ring the bells hanging off the doorknob to be let out.  Smart kitty.
