Maternity Exemption Certificate
« on: November 27, 2011, 10:35:24 AM »
Hi there,

Figured this would be the best place to ask this...we just found out we are pregnant from the GP this week. I'm supposed to be able to obtain a Maternity Exemption Certficate and show it to pharmacies and dentists for free services should I need any prescriptions or work done. Does this count as benefits? Seeing that I'm here on a spousal visa with recourse to public funds, I want to make sure this doesn't count as public funds? Or does it?

I also haven't started working either, so won't be claiming maternity leave or anything. So no real worries there.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did you mean on a spousal visa with no[/b] recourse to public funds?

Anyhow, having free NHS prescriptions and free NHS dentistry, during the pregnancy and for 12 months after the birth does not count as public funds.
